Welcome to reset & refresh! I really am so glad you’re here. You’re on the receiving end of a blog post written by a person who has had to reset and refresh her mindset approximately 47 times before clicking publish. I’m Emma, an uncertain introvert who’s overcoming her fear of embarrassment because she’s sure no one cares about what she has to say, but you’re here, so maybe she’s wrong!
I’m a 24-year-old homebody who just moved back to my hometown after a five and a half year stay in my college town of Lakeland, Florida. I moved there in 2017, got my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration, worked for a nonprofit for a few years, and built a life in a city where I once knew no-one. Those years held a lot of joy, a bit of grief, and a whole lot of growth, which is the whole reason I went there in the first place. But about a year ago, I began to feel like my time in that place may not last much longer, and my certainty that it was time to come home only grew over the months that followed. Maybe we’ll get into more of that later on, but for now, here are the facts without all the feelings - I quit my job, said goodbye to my friends, packed my things, and made my way back home. So now, I’m here in Louisville, Kentucky, where I was born and raised, hitting reset and refresh on my space, my life, and myself.
My days are full of trying to find a new job that checks all the right boxes, recommitting to simple healthy habits like moving my body and making my bed, reconnecting with old friends and figuring out who we are after all these years, and showing up for my family in the ways I couldn’t while I was away. Not to mention, reorganizing every room of the house and scouring the internet for the perfect products to do so. I’m learning how to install window treatments, creating the 'coastal grandmother' house of my mom’s dreams, and cleaning things you may not even know need to be cleaned. We need to reset and refresh our spaces, our lives, and ourselves from time to time, and this is the place to find out how.
reset & refresh begins right here in the messy middle of figuring out my place and purpose again, and whether you just had a big life transition or just need some help overcoming the Sunday scaries, you’re in the right place. From learning what to do when it all feels like too much to finding the perfect curtains to replace the temporary blinds in my childhood bedroom, I’m on a mission to build a life I love living. Come along as we explore practices, processes, and products to reset and refresh your space, life, and self!
